Val Gargassa

The Gargassa Valley ring is a path of easy/medium difficulty through some uncommon rock formations for this region. The valley is a natural preserve, part of the Beigua Geopark.

The path starts from Rossiglione's football stadium, at the end of the parking lot. There are a lot of yellow signs that point the way up the mountain. After reaching its highest point, the path will descend in a little valley, affluent to the main one, and then climb again, for the last time, up to the rocky outcrops that dominate the valley.

Here there is the most difficult part, a short length of the path, 2 or 3 meters, very narrow, with a steel cable to be used as help. Next the path will go down quickly in the valley, until it will reach an abandoned village called Vetrerie. There is also a rest area here and some fruit trees, if you visit in the right season.

Following the path past the village you can reach the Sorgenti Sulfuree (sulphur springs). In truth, I could not find them, even if the smell was very strong at one point. There are also some signs that should help, but wouldn't.

To close the ring, just follow the path back along the torrent at the bottom of the valley. Here are more beautiful rock formations, with the river that creates small ponds of water where you can take a bath, again if the season is the right one.
